PMA- Positive Mouth Attitude

Hannah

You may have heard of "positive mental attitude" before, but for our purposes, PMA is talking about your "positive mouth attitude!" That's right. In order to get the best results from your treatment, you need a positive attitude. Whether it's a bigger smile, being able to look at people when you're talking to them, or just how you feel about yourself, straight teeth will give you a higher level of confidence. And with a boost in your confidence, who knows what you can do!

Maybe this is the time for a new haircut, or maybe you'd like to lose a few pounds. Here's your chance to do it. Spend a few extra minutes each day walking around the block, swimming a few laps in the pool, or riding a bike up to the store and back. Whatever you have the time for, try it! And as long as you've had to cut out on some of the sweets (especially hard candy) that you like so much, try some fresh fruit instead. Your new "mouth attitude" can be the start of some other good habits.

Right now, more than four million people in the United States have braces, 20% of which are adults, and people as "young" has 60 have had successful orthodontic treatment. You are in good company! Braces are one of the things you can do for yourself (and/or your children) to ensure better health. Surveys indicate over and over again that people who have had braces look better and feel better about themselves. They live longer and have a statistically lower risk of cardiovascular disease. While you may not "enjoy" having braces on right now, you'll be glad you did later on. Good luck!
